Review: FanTeam

Even though we live in the age of mobile gameplay, many of us still play DFS on our PCs. That’s why Gambla rates versatile sites very highly. FanTeam earned its high rating by making DFS easy for beginners. Sure, the ins and outs aren’t easy, but at least the UI is easy to use for beginners. And when you start digging a bit more, it gets even more straightforward.

We liked how the sections are just Popular, Sports, and Leagues. And that’s it. There’s no need to complicate things or add unnecessary filters. Sure, we like tidy lobbies with lots of content, but simplicity is often the best solution. Another thing we liked was the algorithm. Basically, the more you play, the better suggestions you’ll see. But it’s user-friendly no matter how many DFS leagues you join.

Thanks to the black-green-yellow combo, visibility is high, too. Overall, our team didn’t have trouble scrolling through player-created leagues. The so-called Drag n’Gos are showcased the same way as official tourneys. Kudos to FanTeam for pushing community content.

FanTeam has a DFS & sportsbook app, but its availability depends on which state you’re in. Since our team members are all over the US, we tested several versions. And we have to say, it’s a treat to use the app. It’s available on both iOS and Android. To download it, head to the App Store or Play Store and select the first search result. Just wait for it to download, log in, and you’re good to go.

Design-wise, it’s a scaled-down version of the PC site. Gambla won’t complain, though, since the front end is perfectly malleable. Frequent updates are another plus, but they mostly revolve around performance. Nevertheless, we don’t mind because the original platform was a success from the get-go.

But before you create an account, check the FanTeam website and see if there’s a download link. Even if there isn’t one, the mobile browser version is more than suitable for regular gameplay. Tablets support it too.

The Gambla verdict is, obviously, a positive one.

The exact list of payment methods at FanTeam depends on your state. We know it’s a bit of a nothing-burger, but that’s how it is. Because this DFS site is available in more than a dozen states, it doesn’t have the same roster everywhere.

But in general, FanTeam accepts traditional options like cards and bank transfers. They’re also happy to accommodate PayPal payments or send a check by courier. To find out the full list, as well as the payment methods, contact support. But in general, you can expect a $100 threshold. It works great with relatively low buy-ins, ranging from $20 and beyond.

And when it comes to waiting times, we’re quite pleased. FanTeam DFS processed our withdrawals instantly. The exact period depends on the tech, as well. All things considered, it’s a thumbs-up from Gambla. However, there are fees for deposits. But hey, we think it’s worth it.

The Support tab is located in the area under the header, which is a great touch. Instead of just housing links, this is a full-fledged knowledge center. We were particularly impressed with the FAQ section. Not only does it contain answers to every common issue, but those answers are also clearly written. Even if you don’t know DFS or sports betting lingo, you won’t have a problem finding your way.

In addition, there’s a separate How to Play section. It contains pretty much everything you need to know about DFS and then some. That, along with the blog, serves as a nice introduction to FanTeam.

But let’s say you still have an issue or a bug. Just select the live chat icon on the right, and you’ll be connected to a support agent. The availability depends on which state you’re in, though. Regardless, if there isn’t anyone online, you can automatically send your message as an email. Correspondence-wise, we had a blast at this DFS site. The agents were forthcoming and solved all our issues. Thus, it’s safe to say FanTeam passed this test with flying colors.

FanTeam is one of the best DFS sites when it comes to licensing. Given their European pedigree, they had no problems setting up shop in the US. As a result, you can play real in real-money DFS leagues and tournaments in these states:

When it comes to sportsbook availability, things are still a bit unclear. Scout Gaming, the company behind FanTeam, still seems to be figuring things out in the US market. Thus, the sportsbook part of the operation is still in the midst of a set-up process. But things are looking good, don’t worry.

In late 2021, Scout Gaming added South American giant Betano to its collection of brands. This gives SG access to one of the premium platforms on the market. And it seems highly likely they’ll use it to further expand their iGaming presence in the States. For now, we’ll leave it at this. But as always, expect an update to the review as soon as something changes.

Nevertheless, there are plenty of ongoing promos, tournaments, and competitions. Honestly, this is something we could get used to. Instead of welcome offers with dodgy rollover requirements, players are actually able to relax and focus on strategizing. For instance, the iconic EPL Mega Monster Tournament regularly comes with five and six-figure prize pools. And the entry fee is often as low as a couple of bucks.

Then there are also FanTeam’s NBA and PGA tournaments. Quite honestly, we didn’t expect to see golf be so heavily represented. Although there are no LIV Golf events, the PGA tour is all over the homepage. According to our findings, the average entry-to-prize pool ratio is 50:1. This trumps DraftKings and Fanduel, at least when fantasy golf is concerned.
