White House petitions are all the rage these days. If you pay attention to the news, you’ve probably heard about the spate of secession petitions submitted in the aftermath of President Obama’s re-election, or the “build the Deathstar” petition that garnered nearly 35,000 signatures and prompted an amusing official response. But it can’t all be overreactions and space stations, so an enterprising Boca fan did the natural thing and created a petition to get club legend Juan Roman Riquelme back in the squad.
The White House petition implores the President to contact Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici to assure Riqulme’s return to the team.
Riquelme is currently in limbo, without a contract, and has been linked to clubs all over the world. He has made noises about going back to Boca, but nothing is done. Maybe Obama can help. Clearly, this is a pressing issue in the “science and space policy” category.
In order for the petition to require an official response from the White House, it needs 100,000 signatures by March 7th.
So get signing already.
White House petition to bring Riquelme back to the Boca Juniors squad
*UPDATE*
Aww. They took it down, the bastards.
