Mario Balotelli Graces The Cover Of Sports Illustrated

Soccer players don’t often make the cover of Sports Illustrated, the storied American sports weekly, at least not in non-World Cup years. So if it’s going to happen, the player in question has to be intriguing, charismatic, provocative, impossible to ignore, and transcendent. And usually all at once. Mario Balotelli is certainly all of those things, which is why the AC Milan striker is fronting SI this week and is the subject of a profile piece by senior SI soccer writer Grant Wahl. Revel.

Yup, they made it look like Mario is walking on water. And he’s got his arms out in a particularly cross-like gesture. I wonder what they were going for?

As for Grant’s story, you can read it here.
