Benfica manager Jorge Jesus–he of the amazing hair–could face a ban of up to as long as three years for his role in a pitch invasion at Guimaraes on the weekend. Benfica won the game 0-1, and in the aftermath, several Benfica fans stormed the pitch. Jesus took exception to the treatment of one fan in particular, first attempting to guard him away from police before lashing out. Police escorted Jesus off the field and he was questioned. It remains to be seen if any criminal charges will be filed.
“The fans came on the pitch and security tried to block one of them and I wanted them to leave him alone as he only wanted to look for a (player’s) jersey,” Jesus said afterward.
Crazy stuff.
