It was clear that some major changes would have to come for the Broncos to make a run at the postseason. The front office would make a massive move over the offseason and bring in Sean Payton to be the team’s new head coach. The deal gave Payton the job for five years and netted him $90 million. In his fifteen years as the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, Payton would lead the team to a 152-89 record and one Super Bowl victory.

One of the greatest players in the recent history of the Broncos, Peyton Manning, came out to express his strong support for the move. Since Manning left the team, the Broncos have not seen much success. During his time with Denver, Manning threw for 17,112 yards, 140 touchdowns, and 52 interceptions. Along with this, he would lead the Broncos to a Super Bowl victory in the 2015 season.

In an interview when asked about the Broncos’ acquiring Peyton, Manning was quoted as saying, “The Walton family and George Paton and I have a good relationship. So, yeah I certainly was all in on Sean. I could tell he wanted to get back in it, I could tell he was looking for a committed organization and ownership that gave him the great support that he got in New Orleans from the Benson family. I think he definitely found that with the Broncos’ new ownership. They’re going to give him what he needs and what he wants. Just the coaching that they’re getting, the intensity, the discipline, I believe you’re going to see all that on the field this year. The first year, got a tough division. But I think all Broncos fans and players are really excited to have Sean”.

In the past, Peyton had an incredible amount of success with Drew Brees as his starting quarterback. Brees was one of the most talented quarterbacks of the generation despite being shorter than the average player at the position. There is a strong chance that Peyton will be able to give some guidance to Wilson that will lead him and the Broncos to get back on the right path in the 2023 season.
