Top Three Traded Destinations For Danielle Hunter
The Minnesota Vikings have been one of the most interesting teams to follow over the 2023 offseason. After finishing as one of the top teams in the NFC last season, they have effectively blown up their roster and gotten rid of many of the veterans that got them to where they were last season.
The most recent move that the Vikings are set to make is trading Danielle Hunter. Recently, it has been reported that the team has begun to shop the three-time Pro Bowler on the trade market. Hunter was the 88th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and has played with the Vikings for the entirety of his seven-year NFL career.
With Hunter serving Minnesota well in his seven seasons with the team, there is a chance that he ends up getting some say in where he is traded. If this ends up being the case, there are three teams that should be at the top of his list.
The first team that should take a look at trading for Hunter is the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are coming off of a Super Bowl title and likely will be contending to repeat this season. With Kansas City recently moving on from Frank Clark, Hunter would be the perfect replacement.
Last season, he recorded 10.5 sacks and was a member of the Pro Bowl team. Pairing him on the defensive line with Chris Jones would make life very difficult for any quarterback playing against the Chiefs this season.
The Carolina Panthers are another team that could use Hunter on their team. Despite trading for the first overall pick in this year’s NFL draft to get their franchise quarterback, the Panthers could end up contending for a division title this year.
The NFC South is arguably the weakest division in the NFL, and after a very solid offseason by the Panthers, adding Hunter could be enough to land them first place in the division. Pairing Hunter with Brian Burns would give Carolina arguably the best pass-rushing duo in the league.
If their defense is able to play at an elite level, it would take a lot of the pressure off of Bryce Young’s shoulders. With him being a rookie quarterback, this would be an incredible thing both for his development and for the Panthers’ playoff chances.
The Baltimore Ravens could also be a very solid landing spot for Hunter. Over the offseason, the Ravens spent most of their time attempting to re-sign Lamar Jackson and do everything that they could to make sure that he did not leave the team.
With that saga concluding with the team signing Odell Beckham Jr., drafting wide receiver Zay Flowers in the first round, and making Jackson the highest-paid player in all of football, Baltimore has not done much to bulk up their defense this offseason. They could make a last-second deal before the season begins to secure one of the league’s best pass rushers.
Hunter would be able to be the primary pass rusher on the Ravens, and if he is traded to Baltimore, he could potentially have one of the better seasons of his career.
