With the offense being more important than ever in today’s NFL, it is almost impossible to have a shot at contending for a Super Bowl without one of the best offenses in the league. There are three teams whose offensive units stand out amongst the rest and could propel their respective teams to a Super Bowl push.
The Kansas City Chiefs arguably once again have the best offense in the NFL heading into the 2023 season. While the unit may be a bit top-heavy, it is clear that Patrick Mahomes is more than capable of carrying the offense even with a below-average receiving core.
This may be the least that Mahomes has to work with this season if the Chiefs are unable to make any moves for a veteran receiver like Deandre Hopkins. However, he still has Travis Kelce as a weapon who still is the top tight end in the league. Even if Kansas City is unable to bring in an elite receiver, Mahomes and Kelce have proven time and time again that they have what it takes to propel the Chiefs into having the most dangerous passing attacks in the league.
Along with this, Isaiah Pacheco is poised to have a breakout season this year in Kansas City. He went on an incredible tear through the playoffs and made some very crucial plays for the team. His run style is a rough and relentless one, and if he is able to avoid injuries this season, he could prove to be an incredibly useful piece to the offense.
The team with the next best offense heading into 2023 is the Philadelphia Eagles. It could be argued that the Eagles have a more well-rounded unit than Kansas City and are deserving of the top spot. In their first season together, Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown took the league by storm and became one of the top quarterback-wide receiver duos in the league.
Over the offseason, the Eagles also got a huge boost in their rushing attack. After losing Miles Sanders in free agency, Philadelphia was able to construct a trade with the Detroit Lions that landed them D’Andre Swift. Throughout his career, Swift has struggled to stay healthy, however, if he can remain on the field this season, it could end up being a career year for him. The Eagles have one of the top offensive lines in the league, and any back would love to have players like Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson blocking for them.
The New York Jets round out the list with the third-best offense in the league. While other teams like the Buffalo Bills have much more proven units, and football is a game played on the field and not on paper, the Jets have an incredible offensive unit on paper. Last season before his injury, Breece Hall was well on his way to establishing himself as one of the top running backs that the league has to offer.
If he is able to bounce back in 2023 and play at the same level, it would likely give the Jets one of the most well-rounded units in the league. With the addition of Aaron Rodgers back into a Nathaniel Hackett-led offense, the veteran quarterback has a chance to turn back the clock and return to playing in his MVP form.
With the elite wide-receiving core the Jets possess, it is more than feasible that Rodgers could be the league’s MVP at the end of the season. This will likely be a breakout season for Garrett Wilson after being named the Offensive Rookie of the Year last season. Along with this, the Jets have picked up some of Rodgers’s favorite targets in Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb along with signing speed demon Marquez Valdes-Scantling who spent last season with the Kansas City Chiefs.
