With the Arizona Cardinals appearing to strike out in the trade market for veteran receiver Deandre Hopkins, there is a chance that they may release him. If this were to occur, he would be free to sign with any team that he chooses. With Hopkins being a veteran player, it is likely that he will sign with a team that is contending for a Super Bowl.
The first team that could sign Hopkins is the Kanasas City Chiefs. If this were to occur, it would give Mahomes his best receiver since Tyreek Hill and Hopkins the most talented quarterback he has shared the field with.
Last season, Mahomes was able to lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl win and bring home an MVP with JuJu Smith-Schuster as his most talented wide receiver. Adding Hopkins to the roster would push Kansas City over the top as strong favorites to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
Another option and the team that Hopkins was most linked to through trade talks were the Buffalo Bills. Hopkins hinted on his Instagram story that he would be joining the Bills in the near future, however, a deal still has not been worked out. This could be due to the Bill waiting for him to be released.
While they have been one of the most talented teams in the league since the emergence of Josh Allen, the Bills have been unable to pull off a Super Bowl appearance. Adding a receiving duo of Hopkins and Stefon Diggs could be enough to get them over the hump.
The final team that could land Hopkins is the Cleveland Browns. While the Browns being Super Bowl contenders is a bit of a stretch, they would have one of the top offenses in the league if they were able to land Hopkins.
Along with this, it would pair Hopkins with Deshaun Watson once again. During their time together with the Houston Texans, they were one of the top duos in the league, and this would give them a chance to relive their glory days. The two have been seen hanging out together over the offseason, and adding Hopkins would give Cleveland an elite receiving core paired with one of the top running backs in the league.
