The Arizona Cardinals recently released veteran wide receiver Deandre Hopkins. Despite being set to turn 31 years old during the 2023 season, Hopkins is still one of the best receivers that the game has to offer. The Cardinal’s release of him shocked the NFL world as it is very hard to believe that they could not have found a team willing to make a trade for him. However, with Hopkins now being a free agent, he is able to sign with whichever team he would like, and with the talent that he still possesses, he could propel his new team into being Super Bowl favorites. There are three teams that would be incredible fits for D Hop.
The first team that would be a perfect landing spot for Hopkins is the Kansas City Chiefs. With Hopkins set to turn 31 this season, he likely will not have too many years left in the league before he decides to call it a career. As a result of this, he will be looking to sign with a contender that gives him a great chance to win a Super Bowl before his retirement.
The Chiefs are coming off of a Super Bowl victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, and have the best quarterback in the league in Patrick Mahomes. However, the Chiefs have a very weak wide receiver room, and if Hopkins were to join the team, he would easily be the team’s top receiver. This is an almost perfect situation for D Hop, and while there are other intriguing teams he could end up playing for, Kansas City seems to be a no-brainer.
Another great situation for Hopkins would be with the Buffalo Bills. The Bills have one of the most well-rounded rosters in all of football. On the offensive end, they have an elite passing attack with the duo of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. Adding D Hop to the mix would make the Bills one of the toughest teams to stop in the league.
On the defensive end, Buffalo has a very well-rounded secondary and an elite pass rush headed by Von Miller. Miller is extremely close with Hopkins, and the two have had a handful of workouts together over the offseason. He has been publicly campaigning for Hopkins to join the team, and it is hard to believe he is just doing this for the cameras. If the Bills can land D Hop, it could be enough to finally get them over the hump and make their first Super Bowl appearance in the Josh Allen era. With the AFC East set up to be one of the most competitive divisions in football this season, this signing would likely set Buffalo up to once again win the division.
The final team that could land D Hop is the Cleveland Browns. While the talent that their roster features have not been able to translate into on-the-field success, the Browns have made some big moves over the offseason to bulk up their defense.
On the offensive end, they have one of the best running backs in the league Nick Chubb. Along with this, quarterback Deshaun Watson is set to play his first full season in two years. If Watson can come out and play as he did during his time with the Houston Texans, he could be one of the top-performing quarterbacks in the league. He is also the key piece that ties Hopkins to the team. During their time in Houston together, Watson and Hopkins were one of the best duos in all of football. With both of them coming into the season with a lot to prove, they may decide to run it back in Cleveland.
