With the big names around the league on the defensive side of the ball under contract for the 2023 season, there is a small chance that any other blockbuster deals take place through the remainder of the offseason. There are three players that lead all of the other defensive players in the league in terms of most guaranteed money on their current contracts.
Interestingly, all of these players play defensive end and two of the players in the top three are teammates.

1. Joey Bosa
Joey Bosa has the most guaranteed money on his deal compared to any other defensive player in the NFL. Bosa signed his deal in July of 2020, and has a total of $102 million guaranteed on his deal. This has worked out very well for Bosa as he spent the majority of the 2022 season sidelined with an injury.
Bosa was only able to participate in five of the team’s seventeen games last season. This will be a big year for Bosa as he will have to prove that he is the same player, and one of the most talented edge rushers in the league after his very serious groin injury.
2. Myles Garrett
Myles Garrett sits in second place for the most guaranteed money for any defensive player in the NFL. Garrett has $100 million guaranteed on his current deal, and he has been more than deserving of the deal.
Despite Garrett only being 27 years old and five years into his NFL career, he is still well on his way to holding a handful of very prestigious team records for the Cleveland Browns. He is arguably the best edge rusher in the league, and teams often are forced to send extra blockers his way.
This will be a huge season for Garrett and the Browns in their first full season with Deshaun Watson under center. The defensive unit was a bit lacking in Cleveland last season, however, this was through no fault of Garrett who set or tied career highs in sacks, tackles, and tackles for loss last season.
3. Khalil Mack
The final player that wraps up the top three is Khalil Mack. After trading to acquire Khalil Mack from the Chicago Bears, the Los Angeles Chargers took on the burden of having the first and third most expensive defensive players in the league in terms of guaranteed money.
While the duo both suffered serious injuries last season, they were not able to share the field much at all. However, this season, they are set to potentially be the best edge rushing duo that the league has ever seen. If Mack and Bosa are able to come back 100% healthy and play at the elite levels that they were before the injury, the Chargers will have an extremely dominant pass rush this season.
