Myles Garrett, the All-Pro defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, has been discharged from the hospital after his Porsche flipped in a one-car accident following Monday’s practice. According to the team, Garrett sustained “non-life-threatening injuries” in the accident, which occurred on a rural road a few hours after the team’s practice session. His agent, Nicole Lynn, confirmed that Garrett did not suffer any broken bones in the car crash either.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Lynn expressed gratitude on behalf of Garrett’s family for the medical personnel who promptly attended to him and an unidentified female passenger, extracting them from the vehicle and transporting them to the hospital. She also mentioned that Garrett has been responsive and alert while receiving medical care.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that they responded to a rollover crash at around 3 pm. Upon arrival, they found a gray Porsche 911 Turbo S with rollover damage on the right side of the car on the road. The crash is currently under investigation, but the highway patrol stated that there is no suspicion of impairment from alcohol or drugs. Garrett and his passenger were both wearing seat belts.

Following a long weekend after their home victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, Garrett and his teammates resumed practice on Monday at the team’s facility in Berea, Ohio. Although Garrett was present in the locker room after the morning workout, it remains uncertain whether the accident will impact his availability for Sunday’s game in Atlanta.

Garrett, who only needs one sack to become the team’s all-time leader, is considered one of the NFL’s most dominant players. Selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2017, he set a single-season franchise record with 16 sacks last season and has amassed an impressive total of 61.5 sacks in 71 games. In Thursday’s win over the Steelers, he contributed two assisted tackles, despite missing one practice due to an unspecified neck issue.

As per the crash report, Garrett and his passenger, Yiana Tjotjos, 23, from Rocky River, were transported to Akron General Hospital for medical treatment.

Garrett was released Monday night. Tjotjos was treated for minor injuries, the patrol said in a release. She suffered a minor head injury, according to the crash report.

According to the crash report, the investigating trooper stated that Garrett’s Porsche sustained extensive damage and seemed to have overturned multiple times.

The trooper checked Garrett’s injuries, reporting he saw a laceration on Garrett’s right wrist.

According to the trooper’s report, when questioned about the incident, Mr. Garrett appeared uncertain about the details of the crash happened and how he veered off the road. He mentioned accelerating up the hill and noticing a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction, but he did not make any evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision.

“He went on to explain that he was unsure if something had approached, but he quickly maneuvered his vehicle to avoid it. Subsequently, his car veered left, then right, leading to a loss of control and ultimately overturning off the right side of the road.”

The state road patrol said unsafe speed for the type of roadway being traveled appeared to be a contributing circumstance. Impairment from alcohol and/or drugs and distracted driving are not suspected.
