In the wake of much speculation around the Lamar Jackson contract situation, Houston Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil proved that you do not need to be represented by an agent to get your worth in free agency. He recently became the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history after inking a new three-year $75 million deal with the Texans.
Houston has been very active in free agency in an attempt to bulk up the roster before they select what they hope will be their franchise quarterback in the 2023 NFL draft. Tunsil was confident that he would be seeing a deal like this all the way back in December when he said he wanted to “reset the market”.
As a testament to his longevity and stretch of elite play, this is the second time in his career that Tunsil has been the highest-paid offensive lineman in league history. He was one of the few bright spots for Houston last season, and with how important it is to protect a quarterback’s blind side, he will earn every penny of this deal.
