How Will Frank Clark Impact the Denver Broncos?
The Denver Broncos recently made a big move in free agency. Despite many of the league’s best defensive players already being signed, the Broncos found a diamond in the rough in Frank Clark.
For the past four seasons, Denver was forced to play against Clark two times a year, and they know better than most just how talented he is. During his four-year stint with the Kansas City Chiefs, Clark was a three-time Pro Bowler and won the Super Bowl twice. Despite missing the Pro Bowl last season, he had a very strong case to make another appearance.
Last year, Clark started in all fifteen games that he played in. He would force one fumble, and record 39 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 13 quarterback hits, 5 sacks, and one safety in his final season with the Chiefs.
The Broncos would sign him to a one-year $5.5 million fully guaranteed deal. He will bring a strong veteran presence to the locker room along with Super Bowl experience. While Denver has a lot of room to grow after last season, they are making a lot of progress in the right direction after all of the additions that they have made over the offseason.
It appears that after the collapse that the team suffered last season in Denver’s first season with Russell Wilson, the Broncos are now set to be the playoff contenders that they were meant to be when they acquired him. Denver already had a very solid defense last season, and with the team adding another talented pass rusher in Clarke, they will be one of the toughest teams to score on in the 2023 season.
