How Leonard Floyd Will Impact the Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills potentially removed themselves from the Deandre Hopkins sweepstakes, however, the move they made to cause this could end up being well worth it. Recently, the Bills signed Leonard Floyd to a one-year $7 million deal. The contract is fully guaranteed and came with a signing bonus of $5.835 million.
Last season, Floyd played in all 17 games for the struggling Los Angeles Rams. He finished the 2022 campaign with 59 tackles, ten tackles for loss, 22 quarterback hits, and nine sacks. His 22 QB hits would be a career-high.
During his three-year stint with the Rams, Floyd was a key part of the elite 2021 defense. He played on the opposite side of Von Miller, and the duo was a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks.
Miller will be sidelined with the knee injury that cut his 2022 season short, however, once he is back, there is a strong chance that he and Floyd will once again be causing havoc in the backfield. Until Miller makes his return to action, Floyd can serve as a capable replacement.
Floyd will be joining an already elite Bills defense. Along with the dominant pass rush that he and Miller will provide for the team, they also have one of the top secondaries in the league. While they may be out on potentially receiving Hopkins, Floyd will prove to be a key addition to the defense. With the chemistry that he and Miller built during their time together on the Rams, this could end up being a season in which Floyd is able to turn back the clock despite being set to turn 31 in the 2023 season.
