Recently, a newcomer has emerged as a potential landing spot for star running back Dalvin Cook. Cook was cut by the Minnesota Vikings after coming off of a Pro Bowl season. In 2022, Cook ran for 1173 yards and 8 touchdowns on 264 carries. Despite this very strong showing, the Vikings still chose to conserve their cap space and cut Cook from their roster.
He is still one of the best running backs that the league has to offer and can elevate an offense. If he ends up signing with a contending team, Cook could push the needle enough to secure a team a Super Bowl if he joins the right roster.
Although there have not been any contract offers publicized yet, there is still plenty of time for him to join a roster. Cook is likely to sign with his new team shortly before mandatory training camp begins. This will allow him to take some much-needed time off and rest before amping back up for another season.
Shortly after he was cut from the Vikings, the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins emerged as early favorites to add him to their team, however, a new team has come out of nowhere as a potential landing spot for the four-time Pro Bowler. That team is the New York Jets.
If Cook were to sign with the Jets, they would arguably have the strongest and most well-rounded offense in the league. New York made it clear that they were going all in for a Super Bowl this season after making a blockbuster trade for Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers alone joining the team catapulted them into the conversation of being Super Bowl contenders, however, if they are able to sign Cook as well, it would be the cherry on top of the star-studded offense that New York has built.
With Breece Hall coming off of a very serious injury, there is a strong chance that he will not be at 100% when the regular season kicks off. If they are able to sign Cook, he would be the perfect player to replace him for the time being. Once Hall rejoined the team, the Jets would likely have the strongest running back room in the entire league.
Pairing this with the very strong defensive unit that carried the Jets last season, they would be a very tough team to get the best of.
