The Atlanta Falcons have been very active in free agency this offseason and made another splash with the addition of defensive lineman Calais Campbell. Campbell and the Falcons worked out a one-year deal; however, the salary has not been disclosed.
With the NFC South still shaping up to be a very weak division heading into 2023, this was a perfect move for the Falcons to aid their playoff chances this season. Campbell is an incredible veteran with a track record of playing at an elite level. He is a six-time Pro Bowler and a one-time member of the All-Pro team. Last season with the Baltimore Ravens, he racked up 36 tackles, four tackles for loss, 14 QB hits, and 5.5 sacks. This was a significant uptick from his 2021 season, showing that he still has a lot in the tank despite being in the league for the past 15 seasons.
Many speculated that Campbell would take a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars that would have put him back on the team where he had the most success in his career; however, he would end up signing with the up-and-coming Falcons. With all of their new additions over the offseason, Atlanta could end up being a top contender for the NFC South crown this season.
