According to police records, a fight took place on the early morning of Sunday, May 23, near the campus, involving Covington, 22. He was cited for fourth-degree assault. The incident occurred when Waleanalu Arquette, 23, of Corvallis, was walking with a friend on Northwest 14th Street. They were subjected to name-calling by a group of men ahead of them. Arquette responded, leading one of the men to punch him twice in the face. Arquette’s friend, Kenn Asato, 21, of Corvallis, was also punched in the eye. Following an investigation, it was determined that Covington was responsible for throwing the punches that struck Arquette. Covington, a former junior college national champion at 165 pounds, had wrestled at Iowa for a year as a redshirt sophomore before moving to OSU to be closer to his Springfield home.
