Even with the NBA postseason still going on, there has already been a vast amount of head coaching turnover around the league. Some of the biggest names in coaching lost their jobs this season, and as a result of this, there are three very enticing teams looking for a head coach for next season.
The most enticing head coaching spot heading into the 2023-24 season is the Phoenix Suns. The Suns are a team that is more than ready to push for an NBA Finals. After a second-round exit at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, they moved on from Monty Williams who won a Coach of the Year award with the team.
Currently, the team has stars in Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton. There is a chance that Paul and Ayton could be moved in the offseason to either bring in a star or bulk up the team’s bench. As a result of this, they could come into the year with the strongest roster in the league.
Another head coaching vacancy that coaches are clamoring over is the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks are another team that could have some turnover on their roster, however, they have arguably the best player in the world on their team in Giannis Antetokounmpo.
After the Bucks were bounced from the playoffs in the first round by the Miami Heat, they moved on from head coach Mike Budenholzer. This was an enormous upset as the Bucks were the top-seeded team in the Eastern Conference. With Giannis coming back hungry to make up for the embarrassment in the postseason, and the Bucks potentially bringing in a second star to appease him, this would be a dream job for any coach.
The final team that has a very enticing head coaching role is the Philadelphia 76ers. This could end up being a very tough role for whoever signs up to coach this team. There is a chance that a core of James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid is not enough to make a championship push.
However, with Embiid coming off of an MVP season, there are few coaches who would turn down the opportunity to coach him. If the Harden era has come to an end in Philly, the 76ers could potentially perform a sign and trade that could land Philadelphia a second star to put alongside Embiid. Harden has proven to be too inconsistent for the team to make a deep playoff run. Embiid is one of the top teams in the league and is desperate to prove that he has what it takes to win an NBA title, if the 76ers can find the right coach, it could be exactly what they need to get over the hump.
