Recently, the Los Angeles Lakers made a very intriguing signing, inking a two-year $4,628,946 deal. Hunter was the tenth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, however, he has struggled to live up to the lofty expectations set for him when he entered the league. Leading up to the draft, scouts compared him to players like Rudy Gay, however, heading into his fifth year in the league, he will be playing for his fourth team.
Last season, Reddish averaged a measly 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting a rough 44.6% from the field and 31.3% from three. This is a very low-risk high reward for the Lakers. Reddish still has a lot of potential and could end up finding his stride alongside all-time greats like LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
He likely will not end up playing a major role on the team and will be a player toward the end of the rotation. However, if he is able to find his outside shot as he did in the 2021-22 season where he shot 35.9% from three, he could end up being a very valuable piece for the team.
With the Lakers signing Reddish to a near minimum deal, they are not out much if he performs poorly through the season, however, if he is able to take a leap in developing his game, this could end up being one of the best signings of the 2023 offseason.
