Get to Know LeBron James’ Wife, Savannah James
Savannah James, LeBron James‘ wife, has been by his side since high school. Hailing from Akron, Ohio, they tied the knot in 2013 and have three children together. LeBron often credits Savannah’s unwavering support as integral to his success. In February 2023, Savannah celebrated LeBron becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. At the ESPYs, LeBron honored Savannah for her sacrifices and support. While Savannah may feel nervous in the spotlight, she has pursued personal business ventures and is passionate about giving back.
Lebron James & Savannah James
According to an interview with Cleveland Magazine in 2018, Savannah James shared that she first encountered her future husband when she was a 16-year-old high school sophomore. At the time, LeBron, who was a year older, attended a rival school. Savannah recounted that he had approached a friend for her phone number, but instead, she decided to take his number.
Reflecting on that moment, she said, “One day I found myself idle, probably bored, and thought, ‘Oh, I forgot! I have this guy’s number that I can call. He seemed interested, so let’s see.’” LeBron then invited her to one of his basketball games, and afterward, they joined friends for a meal at Applebee’s. Their first official date, at Outback Steakhouse, took place a few weeks later.
Savannah James realized she was in love rather quickly and, in a 2010 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she recalled, “I knew he loved me when I left my leftovers from dinner in his car. I had completely forgotten about them, and he brought them to me. I think he just wanted another excuse to come and see me.”
Growing up in Ohio, Savannah James was one of five siblings. Her parents, Jennifer and JK, instilled in their children a spirit of generosity and kindness.
In a candid interview with Cleveland Magazine, Savannah shared that her mom and dad always had an open-door policy, welcoming her and her siblings’ friends into their homes. Whether their friends needed a safe haven or simply someone to talk to, Savannah’s parents were always there to offer support.
Although she is now part of a power couple, Savannah expressed to Harper’s Bazaar that she finds fame “rather peculiar.” She revealed, “I have always been in the background. It’s a bit strange now that magazines and the paparazzi are capturing images of me. I never anticipated it would reach this level, but clearly, I was mistaken.”
She reiterated these sentiments to Cleveland Magazine, stating, “Whenever I am asked to appear on a TV show or walk the red carpet, I must admit, I become a bit uneasy. It’s a departure from my comfort zone.”
LeBron James’ Children A Trio of Love and Legacy
During Savannah James’ senior year, coinciding with LeBron’s rookie year in the NBA, the couple found themselves unexpectedly becoming parents for the first time. Their son, LeBron “Bronny” James Jr., entered the world on October 6, 2004. Recalling that momentous experience, Savannah confided in Harper’s Bazaar, expressing her worries about breaking the news to her parents and the potential impact on LeBron’s career. Overwhelmed with fear and tears, she found solace in LeBron’s reassurance, “This won’t hinder our progress. We will persevere.”
Bronny was later joined by his younger brother, Bryce, born on June 14, 2007, and his sister, Zhuri Nova, born on October 22, 2014. As a teenager, Bronny has demonstrated remarkable basketball potential, with his devoted parents wholeheartedly supporting his athletic pursuits. On January 11, 2023, LeBron and Savannah proudly attended Bronny’s senior night game, where Bryce also showcased his skills on the court, while Zhuri cheered enthusiastically from the stands.
Merely four months later, Bronny made the exciting commitment to play basketball at the University of Southern California. However, shortly after commencing practices with his new team, tragedy struck when he suffered a cardiac arrest during a workout session in July. Thankfully, Bronny received immediate medical attention and was promptly transported to the hospital. We are relieved to report that he is now in stable condition and no longer in the ICU, as confirmed by a representative for the James family.
Savannah initiated her mentorship program, “Women of Our Future,” in 2017. This program provides tailored guidance and unwavering support to young girls in Akron, empowering them to unlock their potential and shape a brighter future.
In an interview with Cleveland Magazine, she shared her motivation behind the program. Savannah actively participated in various philanthropic endeavors. She delivered a speech at the “For Women, Forever” event organized by the Akron Community Foundation and served as an honorary chair for the YWCA of Greater Cleveland’s Circle fundraiser, both in 2018.
Since 2013, Savannah has been organizing the annual “I PROM-ise Makeover event”, featured on the NBA Heat Community website. This event provides local Akron students with the opportunity to obtain prom attire and accessories free of charge. In a conversation with Maureen Kyle, Savannah expressed her passion for giving back through such initiatives. While she still values her privacy, she doesn’t hesitate to step out and contribute to the community.
During a 2017 interview with Vogue, LeBron James disclosed that his wife, Savannah, takes the lead in managing their three children’s lives due to his hectic schedule. He acknowledged her role as the boss of the household and the one who sets the rules. LeBron recognized the challenge of being away for extended periods and that it would be unfair to come home and dictate how things should be done when she has been there every day.
During LeBron James’ time with the Miami Heat, the family resided in Miami. While there, Savannah managed and eventually closed The Juice Spot, a popular juicery in the Brickell neighborhood, when they relocated back to Cleveland.
The couple ventured into the furniture industry with their own line, Home Court by LeBron James, in collaboration with American Signature. This information was reported by Business Insider.
She Takes the Spotlight on The Cut’s May/June 2023 Cover
In May 2023, The Cut published an article featuring Savannah, LeBron James’ wife, discussing her perspective on fame and the spotlight. As a young NBA wife, she chose to focus on being a supportive mother to their three boys rather than seeking fame and notoriety.
Savannah candidly expressed that she found it uncomfortable to put herself out there at that time. However, more recently, she has embraced stepping into the spotlight, making public appearances, and being more active on social media.
When asked about the attention she receives on Instagram, Savannah appreciates the interest but sometimes finds it overwhelming. She understands that this is her current moment to be seen and accepts it.

She feels grateful to hear that her sacrifices and efforts in creating a loving and stable environment for their children are acknowledged. It serves as a testament to herself, reminding her of the importance of her role.
