Despite losing in game four and missing their opportunity to secure the Eastern Conference in a sweep, the Miami Heat have been doing the impossible. They have a chance to become the second 8th seed in the history of the NBA to make the NBA Finals.
Earlier on in the postseason, the Heat would become the first play-in team to even win a playoff series when they took down the Milwaukee Bucks in only five games. This shocked the NBA world as the Bucks were the favorites to win the East. However, they were far from done.
In the second round, they would pull off another upset and defeat the New York Knicks in relatively easy six games. Many ridiculed Jimmy Butler when he was quoted as saying, “We’re still going to win the championship, and I don’t care what nobody says”. This came when the Heat began their season with a very rough record of 2-5.
They now find themselves doing the impossible once again and they hold a 3-1 series lead over the Boston Celtics. With the series in their hands, many believe there is nothing the Heat can do to blow this series even aft their loss in game five.
With game six taking place this could end up being a closer series than many expect, however, the Heat have not struggled at all when playing in Boston. In game one, they took down the Celtics by a final score of 123-116. They would once again shut down the home crowd and win game two by a final score of 111-105.
Even if the Heat is unable to close out the series in TD Garden, they will have one more game at home in the series with the chance to punch their ticket to the NBA Finals in front of their home fans. It appears that the team has what it takes to get to the championship even without Tyler Herro on the floor. Their role players have stepped up and played enormous roles for the team. Along with this, Butler has had the strongest performance from any player in the entire postseason this year.
